Carter's Baptism

We had a very special time attending Carter's baptism on June 7th. We are so happy that he chose to be baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was baptized and confirmed by his dad, Reid. Afterward we went over to their home for a wonderful dinner.

Myrtle Beach

Kim is in a travel club and she chose to plan a trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She invited me to go with her and I invited Sandy to also go. We left on May 30th. Sandy and I flew together and Kim booked her flight later and took a different route. Sandy and I thought we were so smart to book a non-stop flight to Savanna, Georgia and then from there a flight directly into Myrtle Beach. The only problem was, our plane had a problem which caused it to leave six hours late. Of course, we missed our connecting flight. We didn't get into Georgia until about 11:00 P.M. and the airline put us up in a hotel for the night. Sandy was smart enough to pack a carry-on bag with personal necessities, but I did not. We survived the delays and met up with Kim the next morning.

Our first day was spent checking out the shops and walking the beach. It was very warm and beautiful. It felt good after coming from 40 and 50 degree temperatures in Utah.I found that even though I did my hair everyday, it was rather pointless since with the high humidity and wind, it went straight almost immediately. Oh well, it was a vacation.

On Monday, we went to an alligatator and reptile park and afterward, played a game of minature golf. At least I could say I played golf in Myrtle Beach. I actually got two holes-in-one.

One of my most favorite things we did was a boat trip to a place called Shell Island. Captain Rob was our ships captain and he told us some history about Georgetown and the surrounding area. We saw several plantations, a sunken Civil War boat, dolphins, a lighthouse, and we spent an hour gathering conch, large clam, and other assorted shells on the island.

We spent one day in Charleston shopping at the Slave market. I bought a beautiful hand woven seagrass basket.

Kim left a day early, but Sandy and I went going to Brookgreen Gardens our final day in South Carolina.

It was a memorable experience in many ways. We saw beautiful sights, ate delicious food, and enjoyed one another's company.

Memorial Day 2008

Reid's family came up to our townhome on Sunday evening and stayed overnight through Memorial Day. The kids love playing the Wii sports and pretty much have the thing mastered. The plans for Monday were to go swimming at the pool, but we woke up to rain and very cold temperatures. It probably got up to the low 50's that day. I think if they had ever uncovered the pool, the kids would have gone swimming anyway. McKenzie was particularly disappointed. Steve and Reid went golfing in the afternoon, and the rest of us watched a movie.
